126 years have passed since Mount Tarawera erupted on June 10th 1886. Buried Village is having an open weekend to commemorate. Entry is free for everyone the whole weekend, and there will be fun and games to entertain all ages.
Including:
- A Volcanic Air Safaris Giveaway: one lucky person will win a flight for two by floatplane over the Rotorua Lakes District, Mt Tarawera and Waimangu Valley;
- Sparky the Fire Engine (weather dependent)
- Helicopter rides $60 for 5 minutes (weather dependent)
- Story telling
- Colouring in
- Sausage sizzle
- Staff in period costume.
