Te Kōkī, New Zealand School of Music hosts a lunchtime concert on its Kelburn Campus featuring flautist Liam Mallett accompanied by Rosemary Barnes (piano).
Their programme highlights some of the most extraordinary and powerful flute music of the 20th century - from the warmth of French impressionism to the cold of Russian communism, there's something here for everyone. A new work for solo flute by New Zealand composer (and NZSM Masters graduate) Robin Toan is also featured.
The programme is:
Philippe Gaubert: Sonate for flute and piano;
Brian Ferneyhough: Cassandras Dream Song;
Edison Denisov: Sonata for flute and piano;
Robin Toan: Commission for solo flute;
Frank Martin: Ballade for flute and piano.
Te Kōkī, New Zealand School of Music is a joint enterprise of Massey University and Victoria University of Wellington.
