Wakatipu Cycling Club in association with Oceania Cycling Federation and BikeNZ will host The Oceania Road Championships in Queenstown from 16th - 18th March 2012. The Oceania Road Championships (ORC) is a Union Cycliste International (UCI) sanctioned event which is rotated each year between Australia and New Zealand. The event is considered to be an international sporting event of significance in the New Zealand Cycling Calendar which will draw a number of Australian athletes to New Zealand shores to earn the valuable points on offer for athletes to qualify for the Olympic Games in 2012.
The course will start and finish in the heart of Queenstown at the iconic Distinction Hotel which will host the Race Festival including a farmers market, kids' attractions, rides and food and beverage vendors that will attract a number of local spectators. The race will then proceed numerous laps of a 25km circuit through the majestic mountains and stunning scenery of the beautiful city of Queenstown a real race destination experience for competitors & spectators.
